[00:01:58 - 00:02:12] Tonight, for your edification and amusement, three raves, [00:02:12 - 00:02:16] two interregnums. [00:02:16 - 00:02:18] Visions by Rosette. [00:02:23 - 00:02:28] Didgeridoo, Stephen Kent. [00:02:28 - 00:02:36] And sound by Space Time. [00:02:36 - 00:02:45] Words and ideas by Terrence McKenna. [00:02:52 - 00:02:56] Rap One, The Archaic Revival. [00:02:56 - 00:03:17] History is ending because the dominator culture has [00:03:17 - 00:03:22] led the human species into a blind alley. [00:03:22 - 00:03:35] And as the inevitable chaostrophy approaches, [00:03:35 - 00:03:42] people look for metaphors and answers. [00:03:42 - 00:03:47] Every time a culture gets into trouble, [00:03:47 - 00:03:52] it casts itself back into the past, [00:03:52 - 00:03:59] looking for the last sane moment it ever knew. [00:03:59 - 00:04:04] And the last sane moment we ever knew [00:04:04 - 00:04:16] was on the plains of Africa 15,000 years ago, [00:04:16 - 00:04:23] rocked in the cradle of the great horned mushroom [00:04:23 - 00:04:30] goddess before history, before standing armies, [00:04:30 - 00:04:37] before slavery and property, before warfare [00:04:37 - 00:04:44] and phonetic alphabets and monotheism, before, before, [00:04:44 - 00:04:46] before. [00:04:46 - 00:04:51] And this is where the future is taking us, [00:04:51 - 00:04:58] because the secret faith of the 20th century [00:04:58 - 00:05:01] is not modernism. [00:05:01 - 00:05:06] The secret faith of the 20th century [00:05:06 - 00:05:15] is nostalgia for the archaic, nostalgia for the paleolithic. [00:05:15 - 00:05:23] And that gives us body piercing, abstract expressionism, [00:05:23 - 00:05:30] surrealism, jazz, rock and roll, and catastrophe theory. [00:05:30 - 00:05:39] The 20th century mind is nostalgic for the paradise [00:05:39 - 00:05:45] that once existed on the mushroom dotted plains of Africa, [00:05:45 - 00:05:53] where the plant-human symbiosis occurred that pulled [00:05:53 - 00:06:00] us out of the animal body and into the tool-using, culture [00:06:00 - 00:06:07] making, imagination exploring creature that we are. [00:06:07 - 00:06:10] And why does this matter? [00:06:10 - 00:06:18] It matters because it shows that the way out is back, [00:06:18 - 00:06:26] and that the future is a forward escape into the past. [00:06:26 - 00:06:31] This is what the psychedelic experience means. [00:06:31 - 00:06:40] It's a doorway out of history and into the wiring [00:06:40 - 00:06:45] under the board in eternity. [00:06:45 - 00:06:51] And I tell you this because if the community understands [00:06:51 - 00:06:55] what it is that holds it together, [00:06:55 - 00:07:00] the community will be better able to streamline itself [00:07:00 - 00:07:05] for flight into hyperspace. [00:07:05 - 00:07:09] Because what we need is a new myth. [00:07:09 - 00:07:16] What we need is a new true story that tells us where we're [00:07:16 - 00:07:20] going in the universe. [00:07:20 - 00:07:30] And that true story is that the ego is a product of pathology, [00:07:30 - 00:07:34] and that when psilocybin is regularly [00:07:34 - 00:07:41] part of the human experience, the ego is suppressed. [00:07:41 - 00:07:43] And the suppression of the ego means [00:07:43 - 00:07:48] the defeat of the dominators, the materialists, [00:07:48 - 00:07:52] the product peddlers. [00:07:52 - 00:07:58] Psychedelics return us to the inner worth of the self, [00:07:58 - 00:08:06] to the importance of the feeling of immediate experience. [00:08:06 - 00:08:12] And nobody can sell that to you, and nobody can buy it from you. [00:08:12 - 00:08:19] So the dominator culture is not interested in the felt presence [00:08:19 - 00:08:22] of immediate experience. [00:08:22 - 00:08:26] But that's what holds the community together. [00:08:26 - 00:08:32] And as we break out of the silly myths of science [00:08:32 - 00:08:38] and the infantile obsessions of the marketplace, what [00:08:38 - 00:08:43] we discover through the psychedelic experience [00:08:43 - 00:08:48] is that in the body, in the body, [00:08:48 - 00:08:57] there are Niagara's of beauty, alien beauty, alien dimensions [00:08:57 - 00:09:06] that are part of the self, the richest part of life. [00:09:06 - 00:09:09] I think of going to the grave without having [00:09:09 - 00:09:15] a psychedelic experience like going to the grave [00:09:15 - 00:09:18] without ever having sex. [00:09:18 - 00:09:24] It means that you never figured out what it was all about. [00:09:24 - 00:09:34] The mystery is in the body, and the way of the body [00:09:34 - 00:09:39] works itself into nature. [00:09:39 - 00:09:46] What the archaic revival means is shamanism, ecstasy, [00:09:46 - 00:09:52] orgiastic sexuality, and the defeat of the three [00:09:52 - 00:09:54] enemies of the people. [00:09:54 - 00:10:02] And the three enemies of the people [00:10:02 - 00:10:10] are hegemony, monogamy, and monotony. [00:10:10 - 00:10:17] And if you get them on the run, you have the dominators sweating, [00:10:17 - 00:10:22] folks, because that means that you're [00:10:22 - 00:10:27] getting it all reconnected. [00:10:27 - 00:10:31] And getting it all reconnected means [00:10:31 - 00:10:39] putting aside the idea of separateness and self [00:10:39 - 00:10:44] definition through thing fetish. [00:10:44 - 00:10:53] Getting it all connected means tapping into the Gaian mind. [00:10:53 - 00:10:58] And the Gaian mind is what we're calling [00:10:58 - 00:11:01] the psychedelic experience. [00:11:01 - 00:11:06] It's an experience of the living fact of the intellect [00:11:06 - 00:11:10] and the reality of the planet. [00:11:10 - 00:11:14] And without that experience, we wander [00:11:14 - 00:11:19] in a desert of bogus ideologies. [00:11:19 - 00:11:28] But with that experience, the compass of the self [00:11:28 - 00:11:31] can be set. [00:11:31 - 00:11:35] And that's the idea, that we're figuring out [00:11:35 - 00:11:41] how to set the compass of the self through community, [00:11:41 - 00:11:48] through ecstatic dance, through psychedelics, sexuality, [00:11:48 - 00:11:52] intelligence, intelligence. [00:11:52 - 00:11:58] This is what we have to have to make the forward escape [00:11:58 - 00:12:00] into hyperspace. [00:12:00 - 00:12:02] (music) [00:12:02 - 00:12:04] (music)
